In mining here there are always conflict between Geos and Mining Engineers, umm but I don't know if it's the same everywhere in the world. As we're working together, Grade Control the area before drill&Blast and excavate the dirt, We both need to minimise the cost and work efficiently, Geos want to drill only some section in order to see the data before making the decision to drill more. That's absolutely right because if it's waste it will be a waste of money to drill (yeah and it's expensive too).
In other hand almost every Grade Control area need to be drill&Blast as soon as possible for feeding work to rigs and to continue mining activity (Sometimes we have no area to drill or we need the ore in that area), so that we don't have to pay for stand by penalty or get no ore to feed ROM. Mining Engs always ask "If that area ready for drill&Blast?" or "Can we drill follow GC rig without concerning about GC refill holes?".
In the same way, Geos always ask Mining Engs to drill&Blast TOE that GC rigs can't drill. They need the floor to be as smooth as possible (that's reasonable), while Mining Engs need to DB TOE as less as possible because it cost much for secondary blast.
All is simple only we understand each other. All the money is from the same man but just left & right pocket so just compare the cost and make decisions closely together. That will be great.
